Yeni Şafak newspaper photojournalist died

Kuleli Military High School students who tried to seize Çengelköy Police Station at the initial hours of the coup attempt ran away and took refuge in a school, upon the opposition of the police and the citizens. 18 people including Yeni Şafak newspaper photojournalist Mustafa Cambaz were martyred as a result of the fire opened by the putschist soldiers, in the clashes at Çengelköy that continued until the sunrise. The putschist soldiers who closed Kadıköy Acıbadem Street and entered the Türk Telekom building clashed with the police until the morning. Around 20 soldiers who deployed in Türk Telekom building surrendered after hours of conflict. Citizens closed the street to traffic on both sides to provide support to the police. Although the police team took extensive security measures in the street, some citizens were injured in the clashes.
