Devlet Bahçeli left MHP Headquarters and went to his home. When he realized that something was not right, because of the low flying planes in the area of his home and the scenes of Bosphorus Bridge being blocked, he called his executive assistant and came to the Headquarters around 21:30. Bahçeli, who met with the Staff Committee, Chairmanship Council Committee and some members of the Central Executive Board at the party, called the Prime Minister after a short while. Bahçeli said that MHP would not accept such a coup attempt in any way, and that it would stand by the government and democracy, and he was called back by Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım after a short while.
