Violent clashes started in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality
Violent clashes started in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB). Citizens who gathered in front of IBB to support the police opposed to the putschist soldiers. Putschist soldiers started to fire on the citizens approaching fearlessly towards IBB. At the moment the clashes started, many citizens performed ablutions in the decorative pool in front of the Municipality. Many people were martyred as a result of the shootout. The coup plotters did not allow the medical teams to attend the injured either. After the civilians entered the building, the police detained the putschist soldiers one by one. 2 military vehicles deployed in front of the building were made unusable by the citizens. 17 municipality employees were martyred in the clashes at IBB.
