Command Sergeant Major Ömer Halisdemir, who was martyred in the bloody coup attempt of Fetullah Terrorist Organization FETO/PDY, on June 15, is one of the first names to change the course of the coup attempt. FETO member General Semih Terzi based in Silopi, came to Special Forces Command Headquarters around 02:16 by helicopter. Martyr Sergeant Ömer Halisdemir, who was addressed by the Commander of Special Forces Zeki Sakallı as “Son, you are the honor of that location, do not surrender the post”, took his gun and joined the putschists getting off the helicopter. An officer from inside welcomed Terzi as he was approaching the headquarters building. At that moment, Halisdemir drew his gun and took 3 shots at Terzi. As Terzi fell on the ground, Halisdemir ran towards the woodland next to the headquarters building. In the meantime, the putschists in Terzi’s entourage opened fire after Halisdemir. 15 shots were fired at Halisdemir. It was understood that the first bullet that hit Halisdemir was fired by Major Fatih Şahin. It was detected that Şahin fired 12 shots. Terzi, who was shot by Sergeant Ömer Halisdemir was carried inside the headquarters building by the putschists. Terzi stayed inside the headquarters building for about 30 minutes and died at GATA Military Hospital, where he was brought by helicopter.
